Bob Wallis

About the artist

Bob was born in Nottingham in 1944 and now lives in Ludlow in Shropshire. He was educated at Mundella Grammar School in Nottingham and, later, gained a degree in geography at Exeter University. He taught geography and history in secondary schools in London, Somerset and Oxfordshire. He started painting in 1984, although earlier pencil and ink drawings date back to the 1970's. His background as a geographer has led to a lifelong interest in the formation of landscape and the way human activity has altered it. He is also fascinated by the appearance and atmosphere of different sectors of towns and cities.

He has exhibited and sold paintings and drawings in the Midlands, the South West and Wales. He sells through commissions, exhibitions, galleries and privately. Bob has taught adult art classes at Telford and in Northamptonshire. He also taught adults at Ludlow and Bedstone in Shropshire and at Hereford and Weobley in Herefordshire.

He paints in watercolour, acrylic or oil, on site or at home.

A thank you to my wife, Gay, other artists, galleries, libraries and friends for help and advice over the last few years. I am very grateful to Steve Binns for setting up this site. Thanks are due also to the large number of people who have liked my work enough to buy, and to present and past students who have made teaching so enjoyable.
